Details continue to emerge in the death of a Floyd Co. inmate from last week.
A $1 million bond was set Thursday for Scotty L. Gibson, age 23 of Prestonsburg, who is accused of murdering Adam Potter, age 29 of Prestonsburg.
Investigators say Potter Gibson were involved in an altercation on Tuesday, June 5 and Potter was taken to an area Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
On Thursday, Gibson pleaded not guilty during his arraignment.
WYMT reports that Floyd Co Attorney Keith Bartley said that after reviewing the jail’s video surveillance footage, he can only describe the blow that killed Potter as “a nightmare punch.”
Bartley also said surveillance video indicates every effort was made to save the life of Adam Potter by jail staff including a nurse.
A preliminary hearing for Scotty Gibson has been set for Friday, July 15 at 9:30 AM.
